Kyler Murray Earns Second Win vs. Falcons

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray continued defying the odds with a 34-33 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.  The victory marked the Cardinal’s second win of the season. They move to 2-3-1 on the year. The win marked the team’s second in as many weeks.

Murray continues to show an accuracy that was doubted during his time at the NFL combine and during his college tenure as an Oklahoma Sooner.  He was 27/37 through the air totaling 340 yards. The performance was good for an average of 9.2 yards per reception and a QBR of 90.3. He has now gone two straight games without an interception.

The Falcons struggled to defend Murray for much of the afternoon as the young QB displayed an array of elusive moves.  The game was capped with a 3rd and 5 run where Murray scampered out of the pocket, his feet landing safely out of bounds just ahead of the 1st down marker.  A smile from Cliff Kingsbury said it all. The Cardinals have officially begun to turn it around.

Is Kyler Murray Rookie of the Year?

Kyler Murray continues to build on his Rookie of the Year campaign and is making a strong case for another piece of illustrius silverware.  K1’s 1,664 yards through the air currently rank #9 in the NFL and #1 amongst rookie quarterbacks. With just under a third of the season left, Murray has certainly surpassed expectations of many pundits who questioned the ability of his arm.

The most impressive stat for Kyler Murray may be his win total.  With two wins in six games, Murray is ⅔ of the way to matching the Cardinal’s victory count from 2018.  His tie against the Lions in week 1 also must be accounted for as the Cardinals continue to improve during the 2019 campaign.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants

Next up for the Cardinals is the New York Giants.  QB Daniel Jones has struggled in his first si contests.  The Giants are just 2-4 and its largely been due to struggles on offense.  The young quarterback is struggling with accuracy. He is just 85/140 on the year for 921 yards.  He has 6 interceptions to his 5 touchdowns thrown.

The biggest question mark coming into the game is the status of star Running Back Saquon Barkley.  Giants Head Coach Pat Schumer isn’t sure if Barkley will be able to return from an ankle injury that has held him out for three straight games.  Should Barley return, it is not expected that he will be at full strength. He has been limited in practice when he has been able to go.

Elijah Penny has taken the reigns in Barkley’s absence.  He has had limited effectiveness. The Giants continue to struggle on offense with just 339 yards per game.  It ranks 23rd overall. With only 18.5 points scored per game, the Giants have struggled to find any rythm at all.

The Giants are favored to win this one by bookmakers.  Giants -2.5 is the early spread in this one. The over under is 49.
