Murray Wins First NFL Game vs. Bengals

Kyler Murray defeated the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.  A last second field goal pushed the Arizona Cardinals ahead 26-23 as time expired.  The road victory was the first of many in Murray’s NFL career. Head Coach Kliff Kingburry also earned his first career win.

Murray was without a touchdown through the air in the contest.  Instead he hurt the Bengals with his feet and with his discipline.  Murray didn’t throw an interception in the game. In a limited 10 rushes, Murray earned 93 yards and scampered for a score.

Murray put the team in position to win with his last minute drive.  A 24 yard pass to David Johnson had the Cardinals moving. Murray did the rest with a 24 yard rush, his longest of the game, to set up a field goal attempt.  Zane Gonzalez sealed the victory with a 31 yard chip shot on the final play of regulation.

A fierce and multi pronged rushing attack was too much for the Bengals.  Johnson, Murray, and Chase Edmonds, and Andy Issabella each averaged over 5 yards per carry on the afternoon in their 37 combined attempts from scrimmage.

The Cardinals are finally in the win column.  Two more victories would match the club’s total from 2018.  The victory moves the team to 1-3-1 on the year. They look to double their total next week against bottom tier competition.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Cardinals head back home next week.  They will host the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan’s club has fallen well short of lofty preseason expectations.  With a cross country trip, things only get more difficult for the “dirty birds.”

The struggles have largely been on defense for the Georgia based club.  Ryan is averaging over 300 yards per game through the air and again ranks top 5 amongst NFL quarterbacks.  It hasn’t salvaged the early season in the slightest for the Falcons. They enter the game at 1-4. They are winless in the three road contests they’ve played this season.

Despite poor performances, Las Vegas has the Cardinals as underdogs in the Week 6 contest.  The Falcons are favored to win Sunday’s contest. Atlanta -3 is the current point spread. The over under total is 52.5.
